The present Causality and Emergency department was originally a section of the Surgery department. On the realization of the current impact of accidents-causalities and sudden(emergencies) cases that emerged from time to time, It was resolved by the hospital management team that the section be elevated to a department level so as to have the capacity to handle such cases

The department has two major divisions namely surgical and medical which takes care of cases this may require surgical and medical treatment respectively. After emergency operations such cases are sorted out and referred to relevant wards for specialized attention.

The department has specialized personnel Doctors, Nurses and Allied Health Proffessionals.The objective of this arrangement is to cut-down on time wastage while waiting for being attended to. There are other diagnostic facilities liked like X-ray and laboratory services in the department for immediate treatment and operation

The Objectives of the Casuality and Emergency Department are:-

• To offer urgent and prompt resusitation and treatment to medical and surgical emergencies before they could be attended to by various technical wards
• To maintain the causality area in a state of preparedness for any disaster.
• To act as a sorting house for transfer of patients to various departments.
• To impart knowledge and skills in resuscitation and management of Emergencies to various grades of medical personnel and support staff
