DENTISTRY DEPARTMENT
The dental clinic started at Nakasero in 1950 as part of the European hospital to treat civil servants.
The clinic had two branches, one in Entebbe and the other at old mulago and was treating patients from all over the country.Today, the clinic is used by Makerere University to teach Dental students.
During the early days, it had a limited number of patients, but with the increased population today and more dental awareness,two hundred patients are treated on average per day.
OBJECTIVES - Provision of clinical treatment to dental patients
- To offer adequate and appropriate training to dental students and dental technologists .
- To carry out clinical research on prevalent dental diseases.
FUNCTIONS- Treatment of dental patients refered from all over the country.
- Teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate dental students in both clinical and laboratory fields.
- Carrying out clinical research in dental/oral diseases.
