Orthopaedics department is one of the department’s providing surgery and clinical services in Mulago hospital. With the support of the Health Volunteers overseas project, the department is in position to provide orthopaedic services.

The department of Orthopedics has been in existence since the early 1960s. It is responsible for offering Musculo-skeletal services in Mulago Hospital. It is comprises of an Academic unit, In-Patient and Out-Patient clinical service units, Out-reach unit and an Orthopedic workshop. It is in close collaboration with department of Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy plus other related departments.

Health care provision is made through Out-Patient clinics, In-Patient care, specialized and emergency surgery. The department conducts Out-reach programs which involve support supervision, out-patient care as well as in-patient care. They produce and provide orthopeadic appliances.
